2017 SILICON VALLEY AUTO SHOW BRINGS THE FUTURE OF DRIVE

TO SAN JOSE MCENERY CONVENTION CENTER

New Models, Solar Vehicles, Exotics, Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology, Custom Cars, Test Drives and More

SAN JOSE, CA – Experience the future of drive at the 2017 Silicon Valley Auto Show Thursday, January 5 through Sunday, January 8. The San Jose McEnery Convention Center will be filled with all that is new in the automotive world including hundreds of cars, crossovers, trucks and SUV’s. From hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to a solar-powered quadracycle, the auto show will highlight the latest advancements in hybrid, electric and alternative fuel technology. Showgoers will also enjoy exotics, custom vehicles, test drives and classic cars.

More than 35 manufacturers are set to pack the convention center with the hottest new models including the Acura NSX, Chevrolet Bolt, Fiat 124 Spider, Ford Shelby GT350, GMC Acadia, Hyundai Ioniq PEV, McLaren 570S, Toyota Prius Prime, Volkswagen Golf Alltrack and hundreds more. The auto show is the perfect place for showgoers to compare new models in a non-selling environment where they can inspect engines, kick tires and check trunk space with no pressure to buy.

Licensed drivers are invited to get behind the wheel and go for a spin around downtown San Jose in their favorite new models. From crossovers to hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, dozens of new models will be available for test drives from Chevrolet, Fiat, Ford and Toyota.

Hybrid and electric vehicle technology continues to advance at a rapid rate with manufacturers offering an array of options including hybrids, plug-in hybrids and all-electric vehicles. Product specialists will be available to answer questions and explain the benefits to showgoers for several exciting new models including the

Chevrolet Bolt, Fiat 500e, Hyundai Ioniq EV, Hyundai Ioniq PEV, Volkswagen e-golf, Toyota Prius Prime, BMW i3 and Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid, to name a few. The show will also feature hydrogen fuel cell vehicles including the Toyota Mirai and Honda Clarity Fuel Cell.

For the first time ever, the auto show will host a Future of Drive Center featuring the leaders in connective, autonomous and electrification technologies. This hub of innovation will feature plug-in electric vehicles and charging stations from the Center of Sustainable Energy, a mission-driven nonprofit organization working to implement the adoption of clean, sustainable energy.

The San Jose State University Mechanical Engineering Department will also host two displays in the Future of Drive Center. Spartan Racing will showcase three of their Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) vehicles including a Gasoline-Powered Formula-SAE, Electric-Powered Formula-SAE and off-road Mini Baja-SAE. This team took the first place award in the 2015 Gasoline-Powered Formula-SAE competitions, in Lincoln, Nebraska, and the award-winning vehicle will be on display at the auto show. Additionally, the department’s Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Laboratory will bring a Quadracycle Solar Powered Sustainable Vehicle and Solar Powered Sustainable Golf Cart to the auto show.

McLaren will turn heads with showstopping models including the 570S and 650S. Also, don’t miss a rare look at the Lucra LC470 FS, a custom, one-off of the LC470 that sits on a 6” longer wheelbase; features custom interior; runs on a Warhawk 440 V8 and 680-hp; and travels 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds in first gear. A fan favorite, the exotics showcase returns with hot models from Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce, courtesy of Los Gatos Luxury Cars.

New this year, the auto show will feature a special collection of Silicon Valley CEO vehicles. Attendees will be treated to a rare look at the private rides of the region’s top CEOs including a Tesla Model X.

The Hyundai display will be a hub of activity at the auto show. Attendees can test their gaming skills while driving a GT 2025 in the latest version of Gran Turismo 6 for PlayStation 3®, as well as experience the gameshow setting of #HyundaiSWAG where audience members have the chance to win giveaways!

The Blackhawk Automotive Museum returns to the Silicon Valley Auto Show with Cars & Coffee on Sunday, January 8, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Auto enthusiasts will meet in the parking lot located at the intersection of Alamaden Boulevard and Woz Way with their cars to talk horsepower, torque and engine size over coffee.

Additionally, the Blackhawk Automotive Museum will bring two classic gems from the museum to the auto show for attendees to enjoy all show days.

A dazzling showcase of custom cars and muscle cars will turn heads with wild paint jobs, chrome and custom modifications, courtesy of Spider Custom Cars.

This is the largest consumer show that takes place at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, located at 150 West San Carlos Street, in San Jose, Calif.

The auto show will take place Thursday, January 5 through Sunday, January 8. Hours are Thursday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission to the auto show is $11 for adults and $8 for seniors (62 and older), military (with any DOD ID), students (25 and younger w/ID) and children 7-12. Children 6 and younger are free.

CEFCU (Citizens Equity First Credit Union) Family Day is Sunday, January 8, and all children 12 and younger are admitted free with a paying adult.
